My Practice
I work as an independent counsellor in a private practice in the north
part of Cambridge. I see both individuals and couples on a wide range of issues
such
as difficult events in life, relationship problems, stress and anxiety, abuse,
loss, depression and low self-esteem.
My basic training is in Psychodynamic Counselling but I combine in my work
other approaches as and when required to help you have better understanding
of the
situation and the possible way ahead. Thus, I work in an integrative way, employing
Cognitive Behavioural, Person Centred and other available methods.
Code of
Practice
As member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists I
adhere to the code of practice of the organisation as can be viewed at www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework.
The
Counselling Room
I regard the counselling room as a space for the client and counsellor to explore
the issues brought by the client, and together, finding new ways of coping
with the difficulty. Accordingly, I regard the relaxed atmosphere of my counselling
room an important part of the therapy itself, and part of the healing process.
My Experience
I was trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, Group Work and Family Therapy. I have
worked for eleven years as a counsellor in a special drugs and alcohol rehabilitation
project, where people used to come as a last resort after losing everything
else due to their addiction. This work taught me to value the importance of
human
relationship and the fragility in all of us.
Recently I have also been working with adults with learning disability with
the local authority. I have also worked voluntarily with young offenders. I
have
been working with Employee Assisted Programmes and with individuals.

About Myself
I have trained as a counsellor after having difficulties in my own life and
experiencing the benefit of support from others. This taught me the importance
of an unbiased
professional in learning to separate my needs from others and to learn to look
after myself.
I enjoy working with people and helping them feel the power they have inside
them and the choice to overcome the difficulties in their lives and to accept
what they cannot change.
I am working with a variety of therapeutic models in an integrative approach
with the focus being on individual needs.
I am a BACP (British Association for Counselling
and Psychotherapy) Accredited
Counsellor/Psychotherapist and practice according to its ethical guidelines
